Vinyl is a new surface for me.
Queen 1 - 4 2005
This series on galvanized metal is of my daughrer putting on a doll’s hat and proceeding to act out the emotions of a prima dona who no longer wishes to be queen. All credit is due to her for this spontaneous moment.

Zorba Paintings 2004
This series of 10 panels is based on stills from b/w movie Zorba The Greek (1964). The movie is rich with stereotypes & gender relations. The stills follow the activites of Pan like Zorba(green) and his less evperienced English employer, with the female leads, who provide a foil.

When I had a show in Heidelberg germany 1999 I started examining old family albums . In the process of painting the photos I tried to imagine what these people i had heard about were like. this lead to looking at advertisement from the time of my childhood and seeing how the imagery reflected popular thinking of the time.
